The World’s End flock is located in West Herefordshire on a flood plain of the River Wye, not always an ideal location. They graze on what was once part of the parish glebe with views west to Hergest Ridge.

The flock was founded in 2007 with 8 ewes from the Jackston flock in Aberdeenshire, now ceased. Our initial interest was in the variety of colours associated with the breed and its unbroken historical link back to the Vikings. Since then we have discovered numerous other charms. Currently our flock consists of 16 breeding ewes and this year we will be using a home bred tup for the first time, World’s End Bard, whose mother Olga, is the grandaughter of an Icelandic import.

Our annual lamb crop is used to provide a mixture of breeding stock for sale and replacement, with surplus going for our own consumption and for sale into local livestock markets.

We are only just beginning to explore the fleeces and having found that the thel fibres have a similar Bradford count to merino we are now beginning to use them for felting.
